Sleep Apnea Patients Look To Replace Their Recalled Phillips CPAP Machine Since Phillips Seems Incapable

Millions of Americans have been going to bed over the last few months without their necessary sleep apnea device because they are afraid to use it.

Wednesday, November 17, 2021 - The Phillips CPAP recall affects most of their continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) machines because the foam used to muffle the noise the machine makes seems to degrade and cause black particles, and toxic gasses and chemicals to invade the machine's airway and is breathed directly by the user spawning dozens of Phillips CPAP lawsuits. People report that they can no longer get a decent night's rest without the machine and that a lack of sleep has affected their ability to work and raise a family. One Pittsburg woman describes being in that dilemma and also that Phillips has been unresponsive when she contacted the seeking a replacement. "Donna Yount, of Kittanning, has sleep apnea, so she needs her CPAP to get a good night's sleep. But sleep has been hard to get ever since she learned about the Philips recall. "Initially, my doctor said to quit using it just because of the potential risks of using it, but then after I quit using it, I wasn't able to sleep," she said, " according to the WTAE Pittsburg local news. "She said Philips confirmed her machine was subject to the recall, but the company has not responded to her multiple requests for a replacement," WTAE reports. American CPAP customers are also at a loss because their health insurance companies will not cover the cost of a new machine leaving many with no other option than to take potentially addictive sleep aid drugs to cope. Ms. Yount told the news that she thought the situation was a disaster and that her doctor was at a loss to give advice. People that are willing to pay full price out of pocket for another device from another company are unable to get them due to the high demand.

Healthline.com recommends several sleep apnea machines that they tell readers are a good model to replace their broken Phillips brand machine. People that have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and no longer feel comfortable using the recalled Phillips Dreamstation or other sleep apnea device may consider investing in another brand. There are no guarantees, however, that your new machine will not have the same problems that plagued the Phillips devices. If you do purchase another brand of machine you should be careful about which cleaning solution you use. Phillips claims that it was the unapproved SoClean CPAP Ozone cleaning solution that was responsible for destroying the foam insulation and causing carcinogens to be released into the device's airway. HealthLine lists the following as suitable replacements for CPAP patients. ResMed AirSense 10 CPAPZ2, Auto Travel CPAP Machine, ResMed AirMini AutoSet Travel CPAP Machine, and the DeVilbiss IntelliPAP 2 Auto Adjust CPAP machine. Each machine is priced from around $600 to over $1000. "
