SoClean Cleaning Solution Is Accused Of Being Unsafe And May Have Contributed To Phillips CPAP Malfunction

A class-action lawsuit could help Phillips Respironics share responsibility for causing cancer to CPAP users

Saturday, July 2, 2022 - The defining moment may have arrived to determine the cause of the Phillips CPAP sleep apnea machine malfunctioning. Around 3 million Phillips sleep apnea machines are subject to a recall due to the device's polyethylene sound abatement foam disintegrating into toxic black particles, chemicals, and gasses. Users who were unaware of the machine's defect may have inhaled the toxic cocktail each night for the entire night and with every breath whilst they slept. It is not a stretch of the imagination to think that inhaling even the slightest toxin repeatedly every night with every breath could cause lung cancer, oral cancers, and any one of a long list of other respiratory illnesses. People that have developed cancer during the last few years after using the Phillips CPAP devices have filed Phillips CPAP cancer lawsuits to hold the company responsible for failing to warn them of the dangers of using an unapproved cleaning solution. Phillips Respironics, the makers of the device represented their CPAP product is safe for human use and therefore has a responsibility to make sure consumers use the machine properly. An example of improper use may have been using SoClean Ozone cleaning solution, a chemical and device that is not FDA-approved, nor approved by Phillips, to regularly clean their sleep apnea machines. A class-action lawsuit has been filed against SoClean, accusing them of marketing a medical device that is unsafe for humans.

AboutLawsuits.com wrote that the lawsuits filed by Dale Vernon Sr., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, alleges that the O2 Ozone cleaning product is itself a serious health risk. SoClean represented their cleaning product as a safe and effective way to clean and sterilize an individual's sleep apnea machine using "activated oxygen, (AO)" clearly a marketing ploy. AO has concentrated Ozone and must be presented in concentrations higher than a human being can tolerate being effective. Phillips Respironics has accused the SoClean cleaning solution of destroying the device's sound abatement foam causing particles to leach into a user's airway. Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against Phillips alleging that the CPAP machine caused the plaintiffs serious illnesses. Plaintiffs have developed lung cancer, kidney cancer, and other respiratory illnesses while using the defective sleep device.

If you or a loved one have developed cancer or other illness and have used a Philips CPAP sleep apnea machine or Covid-19 mechanical ventilator, you should speak with a Phillips CPAP cancer attorney. You may be entitled to lump-sum compensation via filing a Philips CPAP lawsuit. Qualified CPAP users may be eligible for a free, no-obligation interview with a national CPAP cancer attorney. Filing a claim against Phillips may be a way to hold the Dutch-based company accountable for their negligence in withholding information they had about the sound-abatement foam degrading into toxic particles. The FDA has designated the Phillips sleep apnea recall Class 1, indicating that the device could potentially cause death to the user. This is an excellent indicator of the severity of the situation.
