US Government Regulators Acknowledge The Serious Nature Of The Phillips CPAP Cancer Recall With Class 1 Recall

Phillips CPAP attorneys have filed suit on behalf of their clients who have died, allegedly from using the Phillips CPAP sleep apnea machine

Friday, February 11, 2022 - People that suffer from sleep apnea have discontinued using the Phillips CPAP sleep apnea devices because they have been recalled by the company at the behest of the Food and Drug Administration. Many CPAP users have suffered the effects of the machine causing them to breathe toxic, carcinogenic particles, gasses, and chemicals into their lungs throughout the night. CPAP users report getting sinus infections, pneumonia, difficulty breathing, respiratory infections, allergic reactions, cold-like symptoms like (coughing, sneezing, sore throat, and runny nose), lung inflammation, pneumonia, and bronchitis. Some extreme cases of CPAP illnesses include cancer of the mouth, throat, and lungs. Other CPAP-related illnesses a person may be suffering from include asthma, pulmonary edema, pulmonary fibrosis, other lung diseases or conditions, kidney disease or damage, liver disease or damage, heart damage, hyper- or hypothyroid disease, and immune disorders, according to JD Supra. CPAP users have filed Phillips CPAP cancer lawsuits against Phillips Respironics for failing to warn users that others had complained to the company. A typical complaint was that the CPAP users were developing sore throats, sneezing, coughing, and other cold symptoms because the device's silicone-based, noise muffling foam was degrading into particles that were showing up in the machine's clear airway passage. That is not, however, to downplay what is alleged to be a much more serious side effect, that of causing the user's death. "Michael Henderson was one of the owners of a Philips DreamStation CPAP machine containing the PE-PUR foam, but he died in March 2019, only two months after he was diagnosed with lung cancer, which his surviving wife indicates was a direct and proximate result of the CPAP machine, according to AboutLawsuits.com. Mr. Henderson suffered from a malignant neoplasm of the lung, a form of lung cancer in January 2019, and died later that year according to AboutLawsuits. Another CPAP user, a woman from Arizona, alleges in her lawsuit to have developed breast cancer.

Successful CPAP plaintiffs could expect a settlement of between $250,000 and $1,000,000 according to the extent of their injuries, as per lawyers representing them. People that have used CPAP brands like the DreamStation model, and have suffered a personal injury or worse, should consult with a Phillips CPAP lawyer to see if they qualify for monetary compensation. The Food and Drug Administration investigation found that the company was made aware of malfunctions in one model ( Trilogy Ventilator Products) of their CPAP machines and failed to investigate the problem. The FDA acknowledges the serious, life-threatening nature of the situation and has declared that the Phillips CPAP recall warranted a Class 1 designation. The Class One recall is reserved for only those drugs and medical devices that could cause serious personal injury or death to the user. Hundreds of lawsuits have already been filed and are in the early stages. Many more are expected as more than 3 million Phillips CPAP devices have been recalled.
